Tian Ling, hometown is Changge County of Henan Province, originally named Liu Ruifeng and pseudonym is Qing Wang. He entered into Yan'an Lu-Yi Institute for study in 1939, and in 1940, graduated from The North China Assembly Arts Institute. In 1950, he was appointed deputy director of Tianjin Arts Museum. And in 1953, he engaged in oil paintings in Beijing People's Arts studio. He participated in the "Socialist Plastic Arts Exhibition"held in Moscow in 1959 ,and in 1964, he worked as deputy director of the Preparatory Committee of Beijing Arts Association. Tian Ling had engaged in art popularization for many years and once painted comics, paintings, comic strips, wooden carvings in the border region. After the national liberation, he was mainly engaged in oil paintings and Chinese paintings. His representative work "Every Second counts" got achievement in the "Socialist Plastic Arts Exhibition", and was simultaneously published on Soviet Union's magazine "Plastic Arts"and "Spark" and have a great impact in the circle of Arts. His Chinese paintings combined Chinese and Western features, which was evaluated by Qin Zhaoyang of " open writings, vigorous, sophisticated, self-style, making you feel refresh and profound."
