Li Hechi (1891 - 1974) was named Ruiling, the word "Hechi" and the name "Pillow Lake". He was originally from Dezhou, Shandong Province, and later moved to Hejian, Hebei Province. In 1920, he joined the Institute of Chinese Painting Studies and was a Jincheng student as Liu Zichang, Wu Jingting and Ma Jin. In 1956, he developed the stone color of Chinese painting in Rongbaozhai. In 1958, he was transferred to the Painting Department of Tianjin Hebei Normal University as an associate professor and director of the Teaching and Research Department of Chinese Painting. He retired to Beijing in 1966. He has taught at Yanjing University, Peiping Art College and Tianjin Art College. He has been a member of the Chinese Painting Society, a member of the Hu Society, a university professor, a member of the Provincial Political Consultative Conference and a member of the Chinese Art Association.
