In 2001

On May 2, Zhejiang Fine Art Academy visited BFAA and held academic exchanges. 

On August 9, Taiwan Fine Art Delegation visited BFAA. 

In September, the works of the veteran painters including Qi Baishi, Chen Banding, Hu Peiheng, Hui Xiaotong, Yu Feiyin, Qin Zhongwen, Xu Yansun, Wang Zhujiu, Wu Guangyu, Ye Gongchuo, Pu Songchuang, Wu Jingting, Wang Shensheng, Wang Xuetao, Lou Shibai, Yan Di, Cui Zifan, Pan Jiezi, Yin Shoushi, and the junior painters including Shi Qi, Zhao Zhitian, Zhou Sicong, Zhang Renzhi, Zhang Bu, Hu Zhenkun, Wang Peidong, Jia Haoyi, Wang Wenfang, Yang Yanwen, Peng Peiquan, Guo Shifu, Li Xiaoke, Yang Gang, Nie Ou, Zhuang Xiaolei, Wang Mingming, Mo Xiaosong, Shao Fei, Cai Yushui, Nan Haiyan were selected into the 20th Century Traditional Chinese Painting Exhibition hosted by the Department of Arts of the Ministry of Culture, China Artists Association, National Art Museum of China and Traditional Chinese Painting Institute, and were selected into Collection of the 20th Century Traditional Chinese Painting (1901-2000); Zhou Shaohua was invited to deliver an academic report at BFAA. 

On December 25, the Advanced Study Department of BFAA was officially renamed as the Training Center of BFAA. 


In 2002

On January 26, Li Ruihuan, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Chairman of the CPPCC National Committee came to BFAA and visited the elaborate works of the veteran painters such as Qi Baishi, Yu Feiyin, Chen Banding, etc collected by BFAA. He provided warm concern and strong support to the art collection of BFAA and the preparation and construction of Beijing Art Museum; all the members of the Art Committee of Traditional Chinese Painting of China Artists Association came to visit the art exhibition of Qi Baishi and Yu Feiyin. 

On January 30, eight vice-chairmen of the CPPCC Beijing Committee came to BFAA and visited the art exhibition of Qi Baishi and Yu Feiyin. 

On February 4, Wang Mingming assumed the position of president of BFAA. 

In February, the “Demonstrating Meeting on Qi Baishi Modern Art Center” was held at the Multifunctional Hall of BFAA. 

March 27 to 31, in order to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the publication of Speech at the Yan’an Forum on Literature and Art, “Gate to Great Masters—Exhibition of Works at BFAA” was held at the National Art Museum of China, and a painting album was published. Leaders like Li Ruihuan and Jia Qinglin, etc visited the exhibition. 

On September 5, BFAA held the “Sino-Japan Bamboo Culture—Kazuyo Yasoyama’s Art Exhibition”. 


In 2003 

On May 9, the Art Museum of BFAA broke ground. 

On May 19, BFAA held an exhibition entitled “Genuine Feelings in the Anti-SARS Campaign—Exhibition of Sketches by Famous Beijing Painters”when China was engaged in a campaign to fight against SARS. The book Genuine Feelings in the Anti-SARS Campaign—Collection of Sketches by Famous Beijing Painters was published and handed out to the medical workers who fought at the front line. 

On September 2, 20 members of the CPPCC Beijing Committee came to BFAA to visit the artworks of Qi Baishi. 

September 19 to October 19, the “Special Exhibition of Qi Baishi’s Artworks” held by BFAA at the National Art Museum of China became an important component of “Beijing International Biyearly Exhibition” and the highlight of attraction to domestic and overseas visitors. 


In 2004 

On April 15, delegates from Japan Nanga Fine Art Academy came to BFAA to negotiate about holding a joint exhibition, Wang Mingming and Wang Zhichun received the delegates and held friendly consultations. 

On May 10, Chen Banding Memorial Museum was completed in Shaoxin, Zhejiang Province. 

On December 30, on behalf of the CPPCC, Jia Qinglin, chairman of the National Committee of the CPPCC, Wang Zhongyu, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the CPPCC, Zhao Ximing, deputy secretary general of the National Committee of the CPPCC came to visit the artists and held a conversazione at BFAA. 


In 2005 

On May 20, a large-scale traditional Chinese painting Splendid China created by Wang Mingming, Yang Yanwen, Li Xiaoke, Wang Wenfang and Zhuang Xiaolei was completed. It was presented, on behalf of Jia Qinglin, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, to the KMT Delegation visiting the mainland headed by Jiang Bingkun. The Secretariat of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the CPC Central Committee awarded a certificate to BFAA in recognition of its contribution. 

August 15 to 23, the “Timeless Memory—Joint Fine Art Exhibition of Beijing and Shanghai in Commemoration of the 60th Anniversary of the Chinese People’s Victory in the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-fascist War”, co-sponsored by Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Shanghai Media Group (SMG), was held at Shanghai Art Museum. 

August 23 to September 1, the “Exhibition of the Elaborate Works of ‘Beijing Charm’”, sponsored by BFAA and China Federation of Literary and Art Circles (CFLAC), was held at the Athens Arts Center in Greece, over 30 pieces of elaborate works selected from the series of “Beijing Charm” and collected by BFAA were exhibited. 

On September 23, the inaugural ceremony of the Art Museum of BFAA and Qi Baishi Memorial Museum was held. The academic guideline for the Art Museum of BFAA is that “it features the exhibition of the works by the great artist Qi Baishi, and dedicates itself to the collection and research of Beijing School paintings in modern and contemporary times; meanwhile attaches importance on planning and holding academic seminars, international art exchanges, and thematic art exhibitions of modern and contemporary artists at home and abroad; is not only a modern plastic arts museum incorporating collection, research, exhibition, exchange and recreation, but a public cultural facility open to the society as well.” 

On October 17, “The Sixth Sino-Japan Fine Art Exchange Joint Exhibition” was held at the Art Museum of BFAA, over 80 experts and scholars from the Chinese and Japanese fine art community participated in the exhibition and had academic exchanges. 


In 2006 

On February 1, leaders of Beijing municipal government Wang Qishan and Cai Fuzhao, and leaders of Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture Jiang Gongmin and Li Enjie, etc had a discussion meeting with personages of the capital cultural community Wang Gang and Zhang Guoli, etc, and then visited “Qi Baishi’s Fine-stroke Grass-and-Insect Paintings Exhibition”. 

On March 8, BFAA invited the spouses of the ambassadors in China to visit the Art Museum of BFAA. 

On April 28, “Homemade Portraits—Exhibition of Human Expressions in Qi Baishi’s Brushwork” and “Innovation and Transformation—Exhibition of Mid-20th Century Fine-Stroke Paintings Collected by BFAA” were held simultaneously at the Art Museum of BFAA. 

On May 12, a seminar on “Homemade Portraits—Exhibition of Human Expressions in Qi Baishi’s Brushwork” was held at the First Conference Room on the fifth floor of the Art Museum of BFAA. 

June 3 to 14, “Beijng Charm Works Exhibition” was held at the Chung Shan National Gallery of National Dr. Sun Yet-sen Memorial Hall. 

On October 20, the Art Museum of BFAA launched a series of thematic exhibitions of Qi Baishi’s works that had been closely guarded by BFAA—“Landscape Beauty—Artistic Conception in Qi Baishi’s Landscape Paintings” and “Contemplation on Plum Blossoms and Chrysanthemums—Worldly Pleasure in Qi Baishi’s Flower Paintings”; meanwhile “True Sentiments in Nature—Exhibition of Wang Mingming’s Flower-and-Bird Paintings” was held. Jia Qinlin, Chairman of the CPPCC National Committee and Wang Zhongyu, Vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee visited the exhibitions. 

On December 14, Wang Qishan, Mayor of Beijing held the “New Year Reception Party” at the Art Museum of BFAA, diplomatic envoys from over 100 countries participated in the reception party.
