In May 14, 2012, Beijing Fine Art Academy established the "Qi Baishi Art International Research Center" and "Traditional Chinese Painting Research Center" (hereinafter referres to as the "two centers") in its 55 anniversary, two centers aim to  carrying forward the national culture, highlight the cultural responsibility and mission of Beijing Fine Art Academy as a professional academic institutions of China, implement research the task and function of the Academy, and try to contribute to the development and prosperity of academic research of Chinese painting. For more than a year, under the guidance of the Ministry of culture and the Beijing Municipal Cultural Bureau, researchers of two centers actively participate in a number of fruitful academic activities, and promote the research on Qi Baishi's art and traditional Chinese painting. To sum up the work of the past year, strengthen the communication among researchers, and discuss the work of next year, Beijing Fine Art Academy held 2014 annual meeting in October 22, 2014 - 24 day of “Qi Baishi Art International Art Research Center" and "Traditional Chinese Painting Research Center". This meeting invited researcher consultants of two center, and managers of domestic major museums and galleries, more than 40 experts and scholars attended the meeting.        Summarize the work of 2014, and discuss the plan of 2015

 

       2014 is the 150th anniversary of the birth of Qi Baishi, a series of commemorative activities had launched in China. "Qi Baishi Art International Research Center" also organized a series of activities.

 

Lv Xiao, the secretary-general of “Qi Baishi Art International Research Center”, summarized the work of 2014, and discussed the plan of 2015.

 

       1、In order to strengthen the study and dissemination of Qi Baishi art and Chinese traditional painting art, and explore the modern meaning and value of traditional Chinese culture, the “Qi Baishi 150th anniversary commemorating forum” which organized by the Ministry of Culture, China Federation of Literature, the Beijing Municipal Government, and co-organized by the Propaganda Department of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture, Beijing Literary Federation held in January 23 at 10 am on fifth floor of Art Museum of Beijing Fine Art Academy. In the pre-planning and preparation process of the event, the "Qi Baishi Art International Research Center" had done a lot of detailed and painstaking work.

 

       2、Promote academic research through a series of publications which showed new research achievement. In 2014, we published Qi Baishi Research (The Second Series), Qi Baishi’s Drawings Collected In Beijing Fine Art Academy, and Baishi Readme.

 

       3、Showing Qi Baishi art by exhibitions. January 10, 2014 to December, "Qi Baishi's Letters Exhibition" is exhibited in Beijing Fine Art Academy. Painting Art Museum in Beijing. "Qi Baishi Art International Research Center" cooperated with in cooperation with the Macao Museum of Art for the first time, from April 24 to June 15, “Qi Baishi works collected in Beijing Fine Art Academy Exhibition” held in the Macao Museum of Art, and it is the beginning of the foreign communication and cooperation of Qi Baishi’s art.

 

       4、Establish a completed database by buying more publications of Qi Baishi, collecting and sorting out the information of Qi Baishi’s works.

 

       5、Large documentary Qi Baishi broadcasted in Beijing TV in July 15 and July 16.

 

       6、Organize four public lectures of Qi Baishi to promote Qi Baishi’s art to common public.

 

       In 2015, “Qi Baishi Art International Research Centre” will develop more exchanges and cooperation. In April, we will hold Qi Baishi art exhibition in Hungary, and hold “The World of Insects of Qi Baishi” special exhibition by cooperating with several collection agencies. We will also publish large picture album in English named Qi Baishi or Qi Baishi’s Insects painting Research. What’s more, we will continue to publish the third series of Qi Baishi, complete the picture and article database of Qi Baishi and promote Qi Baishi art popularizing work.

       “Traditional Chinese Painting Research Center” carried out research work in many aspects in 2014, including: 1. The research work of “Twentieth  Century Chinese Art Masters” series; 2. The recording of “Traditional Chinese Painting Master Forum”, and the recording of Zou Peizhu’s lecture has been accomplished; 3. Publishing The Interpretation of Figure Painting in Twentieth Century and Twentieth Century Chinese Art Research•Li Song series academic book.; 4. Donating academic books published by Beijing Fine Art Academy to national provincial and municipal libraries.

 

       In 2015, “Traditional Chinese Painting Research Center” will begin to carry out following work except the series research of “Twentieth Century Chinese Art Masters”: improving and publish the achievement of the research of traditional Chinese paintings by cooperating with Nanjing Museum and Shanxi Museum; publishing the “Twentieth Century Chinese Art Research” series books and “The Door of Master” series publications.

       The first series of The Research of Qi Baishi are well received by the public, and the second series of The Research of Qi Baishi includes 16 articles, which record the important activities and exhibitions organized by research center.

 

 

       Drawings of Qi Baishi Collected by Beijing Fine Art Academy is a academic book written in new perspectives. The book compare the more than 200 drawing of Qi Baishi and his works for the first time, and these are very precious materials in the research of Qi Baishi.

 

 

       The Readme of Qi Baishi is a autobiography of Qi Bahishi, and it has several publications. This publication matches the words with pictures, especially the paintings, seals, letters and diaries of Qi Baishi collected in Beijing Fine Art Academy, and shows the achieves of Qi Bahishi in many aspects.

       In order to exchange the newest research achievement, the annual meeting included two seminars named “The Research of Qi Baishi” and “The Research of Traditional Chinese Painting”, 19 experts made speech in the meeting: Han Yutao, Xi Shangshi, Bei Misha, Situ Yuanjie, Feng Zhaohui, Zhang Tao, Lv Xiao, Zhang Yudan, Wei Haoyu, Chen Chen, Hu Bo, Zhou Jiyin, Chen Dali, Shu Shijun, Li Song, Luo Shiping, Chen Ying, Yu Hui, Li Weiming, Wu Hongliang introduced their newest research achievements, and discussed with guests in the meeting on relative issues deeply.
