Chen Lvsheng (陈履生) holds the point that the charm form Qi Baishi’s paintings is from the special years’ influence on ordinary life

The speech Public Education Program: the Charm of Art Discovery is conducted by Mr.Chen who is National Museum of China’s vice director, artist and art critic and the speech is held on 9:30 am 23ed Apr.2011 at the Art Museum of Beijing Fine Art Academy’s conference room.

Mr.Chen who studied in Qi Baishi’s for a many years started his speech from Qi Baishi’s paintings which is on the theme of vegetables and fruits. Mr.Chen supposes that Qi Baishi’s art worth our reading as it has very close relation with his daily life, and as a result his paintings reflect the reality circumstance in his years. However, to the Chinese water and wash painting today, his paintings also make us to rethink how to inherit tradition and how to make contemporary water and wash paintings into mater pieces.

In two hours of the speech, Mr.Chen analysis Qi Baishi’s art in six aspects: items from his homeland, Qi Baishi’s art origins, Qi Baishi as a literati, the country side themes in his Urban life, unceasing pursuit, paintings on the vegetable and fruit themes. The speech is welcomed by visitors who discussed a lot about this artist with Mr.Chen at the end.
