Major Events at BFAA from 1986 to 20002013-10-19
In 1986
January 28 to 30, Traditional Chinese Painting Editorial Department of BFAA and the Research Institute of Traditional Chinese Painting co-hosted a “Seminar on Traditional Chinese Painting” to discuss the current problems shown in the creation of traditional Chinese paintings.
In 1987
On May 22, it was the 30th anniversary of the founding of BFAA, “BFAA Works Exhibition” and “BFAA Veteran Painters’ Works Exhibition” were held at the National Art Museum of China. BFAA Works Collection was published by People’s Fine Arts Publishing House, altogether 95 pieces of works including traditional Chinese paintings, oil paintings and sculptures were selected into the collection.
In 1988
In February, Wu Xiu, Vice-president of BFAA and Ma Quan, an artist of BFAA went to the United States to attend the opening ceremony of the “Works Exhibition in Celebration of the 30th Anniversary of the Founding of BFAA”.
In August, “BFAA New Works Exhibition” was held at the National Art Museum of China.
In 1989
April 26 to May 7, “Cross-Strait Brushwork Exchange Exhibition”, cosponsored by BFAA, the Kaohsiung Modern Arts Association in Taiwan, and Wang Hsiang Construction Co., ltd in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, was held at the National Art Museum of China. At the same time, “BFAA Veteran Painters’ Works Exhibition” was held at the National Art Museum of China.
In April, in order to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Mr. Yu Feiyin’s birth, BFAA and the Palace Museum co-hosted the “Yu Feiyin’s Posthumous Works Exhibition” at the Painting Gallery of the Palace Museum.
On July 24, BFAA organized artists to hold the “Cross-Strait Brushwork Exchange Exhibition” in Taiwan.
In 1990
September 14 to October 7, during the 11th Asian Games Art Festival in Beijing, BFAA, Chinese Painting Institute of Shanghai, Chinese Painting Institute of Jiangsu, Guangdong Painting Academy and Shaanxi Chinese Painting Academy jointly held the “Traditional Chinese Paintings Joint Exhibition” at the Military Museum of Chinese People’s Revolution.
In September, the ISSN of Traditional Chinese Painting was abolished; instead, Traditional Chinese Painting was published using ISBN from then on.
November 27 to 29, “The Debut Exhibition of Traditional Chinese Paintings of BFAA in Hong Kong” was held at Hong Kong City Hall.
In November, Yang Yanwen held a painting exhibition at the Kah Kee Hall of SCCCI (Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry) Building.
December 18 to 25, “Demonstration Exhibition of BFAA for Collecting Historical Cultural Materials during the New Democratic Revolution Period” was held at the Exhibition Hall of BFAA.
In 1991
In February, the “Art Exhibition of Beijing Fine Art Academy” was held in Japan.
In August, BFAA, Chinese Painting Institute of Shanghai, Chinese Painting Institute of Jiangsu, Guangdong Painting Academy and Shaanxi Chinese Painting Academy jointly held the “Traditional Chinese Paintings Joint Exhibition”; the exhibition was sponsored by Chinese Painting Institute of Shanghai at Shanghai Art Museum. BFAA held “Cross-strait Exhibition of Seven Painters’ Works” at the Museum of Chinese History.
In November, “The Debut Exhibition of Traditional Chinese Paintings of BFAA” opened at Hong Kong City Hall, over 100 pieces of works by 66 painters were exhibited.
In 1992
In March, the collection of works entitled Beijing Fine Art Academy was published by Beijing Publishing House. Liu Chunhua, president of BFAA wrote a foreword for the book.
April 28 to May 3, “Fine Art Exhibition in Commemoration of the 35th Anniversary of the Founding of BFAA & in Commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the Publication of Mao Zedong’s Speech at the Yan’an Forum on Literature and Art” was held at the National Art Museum of China, altogether 120 pieces of works by nearly 80 artists were exhibited.
In 1993
In April, the layout of Traditional Chinese Painting (total No. 58 Issue) was comprehensively reformed. It was edited by the Traditional Chinese Painting Editorial Department of BFAA, with Wen Guagwang as editor in chief and Wang Zhichun as executive editor. It is published by Rong Bao Zhai, printed by Baihua Color Printing Co., Ltd. in Beijing, and distributed by the Beijng Publishing Agency of Xinhua Bookstore and China International Book Trading Corporation.
September 14 to 19, “Exhibition of Paintings from Nature and Life by BFAA” was held at the National Art Museum of China.
In 1994
In August, Wang Mingming went to attend the International Ink and Wash Seminar held in Malaysia.
In September, Liu Xun held an exhibition of paintings in Los Angeles, USA.
In October, Wu Qian went to Germany to hold an art exhibition there; Wang Weizheng visited Italy on invitation.
In November, Wang Weizheng won the Outstanding Proposal Award at the CPPCC Commendation Meeting for Outstanding Proposals.
In 1995
In June, a delegation of artists visited the Philippines and participated in the events celebrating the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the Philippines.
In August, Wang Mingming went to Singapore to attend the opening ceremony of “World Chinese Ink and Wash Paintings Exhibition”.
In December, Jia Haoyi went to Singapore to hold a painting exhibition, and published his collection of paintings Wind on the Grassland.
In 1996
In February, Tian Yong and Yao Zengpu, painters from BFAA, went to attend the opening ceremony of “Sino-Korea International Fine Art Exchange Exhibition” held in the United States; Ji Qingyuan and Lu Ping, painters from BFAA held painting exhibitions in Sydney.
On June 1, artists from BFAA went to Taiwan to hold the “Cross-strait Qi Baishi Collection Exhibition”.
In July, Liu Chunhua went to Japan to participate in the events celebrating the 40th anniversary of the establishment of Japan-China Cultural Exchange Association.
In October, “Zhou Sicong Review Exhibition” was held at the National Art Museum of China.
In November, Yang Yanwen held a painting exhibition at Xingyi Art Gallery (Singapore).
In December, Wang Mingming, as a member of the Beijing Artist Delegation, went to Hong Kong to participate in the “Painting Exhibition Celebrating the Return of Hong Kong”.
