On the occasion of new year, the Counsellor Office of the State Council, Central Research Institute of Culture and History, China Artists Association, Beijing Artists Association, Beijing Fine Art Academy hold the exhibition Fragrant ----the collected flower and bird paintings of Liu Jiying(刘继瑛), the exhibition will be opened in 13th Jan.2011, at the Art Museum of Beijing Fine Art Academy. Liu Jiying comes from a literate family. As a famous female artist in Beijing, she is especially good at the fine brush Chinese traditional art. With around 60 paintings of the artist, which covered different periods of the artist, the exhibition would like to provide the audience an art trip through the relax brushes and colors.

          Cooperated in extending old artists’ fine art works

          For the purpose of extending old artists’ paintings, after the exhibitions of Create Landscape with the Respect of Song Dynasity Art Spirit,Create New Way with the Study of Ancient Chinese Paintings,The coming exhibition of Mr.Sun’s(孙天牧) paintings during his 100 years birthday, The Life of Free Sketch——Exhibition of Xu Linlu’s(许麟庐) new art works, today Central Research Institute of Culture and History and the Beijing Fine Art Academy cooperated to hold the exhibition of Fragrant ----the collected flower and bird paintings of Liu Jiying. Liu Jiying who is already 90 years old this year, is a member of Central Research Institute of Culture and History, she began his art career around 1938, and she is a witness of  modern Chinese art development. The exhibition will show an old artist’s decades years of art research.

          Inherit from distinguished artists, create outstanding art Liu Jiying learned fine brush painting from Zhao Mengzhu（赵梦朱） when she was 17 years old, then she followed Pu Xinshe(溥心畬), at the age about 30s, she learned fine brush paintings from Wang Xuetao(王雪涛). The painting Peony was finished when Ms.Liu was very young (1941), but we can see the talent inside, the study period of Pu Xinshe made her read a lot of books and also read a lot of famous paintings which are the collections of Mr.Pu. During her about 20 years study with Wang Xuetao, she learned a lot of painting skills. Finally, Ms.Liu made a lot of study in Xieyi (写意) flower and bird painting and formed her own art character.

           As a literati, Ms.Liu is very kind, Peony,white lotus, red-crowned crane and kingfisher are the themes of her paintings. Although Ms.Liu is a female artist, her paintings are as good as the male artists. Audience always attracted by the ingenious compositions, the good use of colors and the fresh atmosphere of her paintings.
