Early Art Career--Paintings from Wang Mingming’s Childhood

          The exhibition Early Art Career----Paintings from Wang Mingming’s (王明明) Childhoodwill be opened on 27th April 2011 at the Art Museum of Beijing Fine Art Academy , the exhibition is hosted by Calligraphy &Painting Workshop of the CPPCC, China Artists Association, Beijing Artists Association and Beijing Fine Art Academy. From 2000, Mr.Wang concentrated on his pursuit of art besides his professions, his art exhibitions such as Bird and Flower Paintings Exhibition, Hand Scroll Exhibition, Calligraphy Exhibition etc. are received a good reactions. According to Chinese lunar calendar, Mr.Wang is 60 this year, that also means that Mr.Wang also had experienced approximately 50 years in art study. On this occasion, the exhibition will give a retrospect of the paintings created when Mr.Wang was only aged between 6 to 13, a lot of these paintings are the first time meet the audience. These paintings will bring the audience a contemplation of art’s essence; we also believe that the exhibition will bring some inspirations and references for today’s art development.

 

         Follow his Father to Visit Art Masters


        As an excellent artist and an important leader of contemporary art, Mr.Wang’s early art experience is quite legendary. Mr.Wang’s father Mang Niantang(王念堂)is an amateur of Chinese traditional art, but because a lot of reasons he could not make it as his career, as a result he wished his children can realize this dream. Mr.Wang Mmingming had visited a lot of art exhibitions and visited a lot of art masters follow his father, he was regarded as prodigya child when he was young and had awarded international rewards. The paintings displayed in this exhibition recorded the early art career of Mr.Wang Mingming, some are the sketch paintings, some were finished under the guide of his father, Wu Zuoren (吴作人)or Li Kuchan(李苦禅). All these paintings are the fruits of the parent’s love and masters’ teaching, Wang Niantang collected these paintings though 50 years and displayed them when Mr.Wang Mingming aged 60, the exhibition can be regarded as a return of his father and also a review of Mr.Wang Mingming’s art career, and the rethink of the inherit and innovation of Chinese traditional art.


         Red childhood

 

         These paintings made a display the child’s daily life, such as little toys, little pets and little porcelain horses which given by Li Kuchan(李苦禅),there are themes such as little fishes, little shrimps and also the serious themes as Spring Ploughing Work, Jiangjie etc. Themes in these paintings’ also included a lot of social issues like people’s commune, planting trees, learning to Wangjie(王杰), these social issues in these paintings are more colorful and realistic then in adult’s paintings. Many years passed, a lot of paintings were withered, but these innocent paintings are still very attractive.

 

         About 50 Years with Water and Ink Paintings


        When Mr.Wang was young he had worked in a factory, after the Culture Revolution he had entered Central Academy of Art and Design, but he eventually decided to study in Beijing Fine Art Academy rather than learn in Central Academy of Art and Design, he had made a great contribution to the heritage of Chinese art traditional and the development of Chinese contemporary art. In this exhibition, Mr.Wang Mingming had introspection a lot questions about Chinese art, in the Foreword Mr.Wang had discussed about the essence of child’s painting, during the interview, Mr.Wang compared the traditional education form of Chinese art and the academic education, he had also talked about basic sprit of Chinese art and the inherit of Chinese traditional art, these topics are all very important in the contemporary art development, we believe that the exhibition will benefits a lot for today’s art development.
