Li Yuzhu Seal Carving Art Retrospective Exhibition is sponsored by Beijing Calligrapher Association, Chinese Cultural Federation Calligraphy and Painting Art Exchange Center, and conducted by Art Museum of Beijing Fine Art academy; the exhibition will last from 12th to 17th Aug. 2011.
Mr. Li Yuzhu, was born at Mancheng, Hebei Province in 1942, taught by Mr. Sun Zhu, Mr. Ning Fucheng and Mr. Lou Shibai. After 1962, he engaged in army literary and artistic work for a long time. After retiring from the military services, he still paid great attention in the seal carving skill’s inheritance and popularization. He edited Yu Zhu Mark, Anthology of Sun Zhu’s Painting and Seals, the Collection of Chinese National Seals and so on. He is Vice Director of Seals Engraves Art Committee of Chinese Folk Literature and Arts Association, artist Calligraphy and Painting Art Exchange Center of China Federation of Literary and Art Circles; he is also member of the Chinese Acrobatics Association, member of Beijing Calligrapher Association. He was awarded Outstanding Artist by the National Human Resources Department of Personnel Talent Research Association.
Mr. Li Yuzhu’s art inherits the style of Mr. Sun Zhu and Mr. Ning Fucheng, besides, through diligent study and unceasing exploration in artistic creation, he has formed his own art style. For example, the seals “Mountain Soul” for famous painter Liang Yan and “Guan Shanyue” for the senior Mr. Guan Shanyue are fully displayed his seals engraving style. Mr. Li Yuzhu inherits tradition, also displays the practical, enjoyable and portray life ideal in his work “Picture Seals”. Mr. Liu Jiang, whom from Xi Ling Seals Organization, when he wrote in the foreword about Mr. Li Yuzhu’s monograph “Yu Zhu Mark” he pointed out that Mr. Li Yuzhu’s work is “the life portrayal”, for example "Lamp Dark, Heart Bright", "Bath Horse in Nan Jiang", "Combat with Corruption" etc. manifest his art is stem from life.
200 seals will be displayed in this exhibition, they are chosen from Mr. Li Yuzhu’s more than ten thousands of works in his 50 years art career, the original copy of Chinese Nation Book of Ancient Seals (?) is also included. The exhibition will contribute to the popularizing of seal carving; furthermore, it will also bring us some enlightenment on the aspects of seal carving art’s inheritance and development.
