Ten Years Relationship with Tibet
Tibet is a consecrate plateau for Chinese artists, from Wu Zuoren (吴作人) and Dong Xiwen (董希文), the plateau inspired Chinese art strongly. Even nowadays, a lot of artists also visit Tibet to pursue their dream, Li Keran who had been there for more than twenty times thought that Tibet is a mysterious area: when you what to come closer, it always far away from you. To artist the pursue process is also a creation process.
Li Xiaoke’s first meet with Tibet is very occasionally, 1988 the photographer Zheng Yunfeng (郑云峰) visited Mr.Li Keran and invited him to write the Tang poem Yellow River’s water is from the heaven, and do not return forever , the calligraphy was brought by Mr.Zheng to the yellow river’s head. From that time Li Xiaoke was attracted by Tibet, and when he was grew up he already visited the origin of Yellow river and the Long River…
Try to Explain the Art’s Beauty
Li Xiaoke is familiar by the audience on his achievement of Chinese painting artist and photographer, however he bring us a surprise this time, the artist try to make prints on the base of photography. As his own words: I really like the hand make process of prints, in this process artist experienced a re-participant and re- expression, I prefer printing to convey my feelings.
Mr.Li not creates these prints with the identity of artist but as a film director, these prints expressed a kind of independent and time spirit though these process. Prints in the exhibition, artists’ art works around the theme of palmer, shaman etc religious themes, he even put himself in this prints.
What moved us is that Li Xiaoke decided to donate these prints to Beijing Fine Art Academy, to the public and the society.
