Selected Painting Exhibition of Bai Xueshi

        Chinese mountain-and-water painter Bai Xueshi passed away one year, Beijing Fine Art Academy cooperated with painting and calligraphy studio of National CPPC, Chinese Artists Association, Chinese Art Museum, National Fine Art Academy, Beijing Artists Association and Art Academy of Qing Huan University to organized the exhibition of Selected Painting Exhibition of Bai Xueshi. The exhibition will opened at 27th Sep. at Art Museum of Beijing Fine Art Academy, and last to 8th Oct. About seventy paintings and sketches will be included in the exhibition, these paintings can be divided into three groups according to their creation times: in 1950s with the theme of new China’s communist constructions; in 1960s drawn paintings during journey and teaching students; and some selected paintings which contains strong personal character of the artist. Some painting albums and essays about Bai Xueshi will also be displayed in the exhibition, though these materials the exhibition give a comprehensive image of the artist.

 

         Painting outside and exploring new art motifs


         Some special paintings which painted during journey will be displayed in the exhibition, these paintings  spanned 1950s to 1990s. At the beginning, Bai Xueshi, Qing Zhonwen etc. artists went to planto in the west of China, in 1960s, he joined Zhang Anzhi, Song Wenzhi etc travelled around the south-east of China, the inscriptions on Double Swords Mountains proved this journey. In this period, Bai Xueshi always try to be inspired by the nature and life, these paintings also recording a mountain- and- water artist’s art experiences.

 

         Gui Lin Landscape


         Bai Xueshi inspired by western paintings and also inherited Chinese traditional methods of learning from the nature. Face to the nature, Bai Xueshi not only have a objective attitude, but also emphasizing on the recreation of the landscape, the representative theme of Bai Xueshi’s painting is the Gui Lin landscape, in 1973, with the invitation from the administration dept. of Chinese State Council, Bai Xueshi got great achievements in this period, about thirty paintings were displayed in Exhibition Hall of CPPC, which got good feedback in art circle.

 

        The mountain-and-water painting of Bai Xueshi were collected by different art institutions both domestic and overseas, for giving a comprehensive understanding of the artists, Beijing Fine Art Academy borrowed paintings from Calligraphy and Painting Studio of CPPC, China Art Museum, Beijing Artists Association, Diao Yutai State Guesthouse etc, and will provide a good platform for audience’s appreciation.
