During the Chinese New Year period, Beijing Fine Art Institution will display the calligraphy works collected by Beijing Fine Art Institution; we believe the exhibition will add some festival atmosphere to the capital. The exhibition will be opened on 29th Jan.2013 and last to 27th Feb., as an important part of Beijing Fine Art Institution’s collection, the exhibition gathered more than seventy paintings from more than thirty artists, and provides a clue of how cultural activities happened in Beijing in last century.

          The exhibition not only covered master pieces and well-known art works but also some calligraphy from social celebrities, just like Chinese leaders  Zhu De (朱德), Chen Yi (陈毅), and the calligraphy In Memory of  the 20th Anniversary Maoze Dong’s Speech on Literature and Art in Yan’an, the document shows the guide of elder revolutionary. Besides, calligraphy wrote by celebrities like Guo Moruo(郭沫若)，Laoshe (老舍) are also highlights in the exhibition, the new poem depicted the new social construction in the 1960s, these art works are not only have art value but also important historical documents. Qi Baishi (齐白石), Li Keran(李可染), Xu Beihong(徐悲鸿)’s art works can also be found in the exhibition, especially Li Keran’s art saying like “write biography for the country scenery”, “Learn it deeply, and abandon it with courage” are all conveyed in the calligraphy, which make us understand the previous art masters’ art creation pattern. A special calligraphy group will also be introduced in the exhibition: the group of “Chinese Calligraphy Research Group” which established by Chen Yungao(陈云诰), Zhang Shizhao(章士钊), Pu Xuezhai(溥雪斋) in Rainy Pavilion Zhongshan Park Beijing in 1956, this is the first calligraphy group held by people in R.P.C. and the members included almost all calligraphy celebrities in Beijing in the period, the group had made great achievements for Chinese calligraphy development just like cultivated great calligraphers like Qi Gong(启功), Liu Bingseng(刘炳森) etc. Distinguished scenery is the calligraphy wrote by main founder of the group will also can be find in the exhibition.

          The aesthetic value, academic value and documental value are the highlights of the exhibition; audience can not only appreciate the calligraphy art but also can find the growth development of Beijing Fine Art Institution, and also the culture circumstance during the new opening period of R.P.C. Though the exhibition of Calligraphy Collected by Beijing Fine Art Institution, Beijing Fine Art Institution provide these valuable art works to capital audience, these good calligraphy works can deeper our understanding and research of calligraphy, and will benefit the traditional art form’s development currently. With the opportunity of the series exhibition of Beijing Fine Art Institution’s Collection, more research about 20th century art works will be displayed to the audience and realize its own art value.
