On March 21, Zhang Gongzhe’s Art Works Exhibition will be opened in Art Museum of Beijing Fine Art Academy at 10:30. The exhibition is co-hosted by Chinese Calligraphers’ Association, Chinese Fine Art Academy, Xiling Seal-engravers’ Society, Chinese Poem Academy, Chinese Calligraphers and Painters Magazine, and Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Magazine.

        Zhang Gongzhe is a contemporary artist versed in poetry, calligraphy, painting and seal cutting. It’s his first personal exhibition held in Beijing, showing over 60 representative works. His poems are refined in forms and suggestive in meanings. His calligraphy, varying in different script forms, preserves classic elegance and gives full play to his own interest. As a representative of impressionistic style, his seal cutting follows the traditional style of Qin and Han dynasty, combining perfectly both delicacy and boldness. He prefers the technique of water-and-ink rendering, which makes his paintings filled with simple and crystal beauty. Zhang Gongzhe also dabs in Chinese graphology, History of Calligraphy and Paintings, and History of seal cutting. His views on calligraphy, paintings and seal cuttings are highly praised in the field.

         Zhang Gongzhe, also named by Xu Guang, Gong Zhe, and Rong Tang, was born in Liaoning, Xingcheng in 1967. Once worked as the Executive Chief Editor of Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Magazine, he is now working in the Advisory office of the state council. Currently he is the director of Chinese Calligrapher's Association, a member of Chinese Artists Association, member of Xiling Seal Engravers Society, member of Chinese Poetry Academy, Researcher of Chinese Fine Art Academy, instructor of Zhang Gongzhe Workshop, part-time professor and master’s tutor of  Beijing Language and Culture University, part-time professor and master’s tutor of Sichuan University, associate researcher of Calligraphy Institute of Peking University ,visiting professor of Central University for Nationalities, and deputy director of  China Media and Arts Committee.

         Mr. Zhang Gongzhe won a prize in “the 4th National Calligraphy and Seal Cutting Exhibition for Young and Middle-Aged artists" and entitled the "National Award" in the “5th National Calligraphy and Seal Cutting Exhibition”. He successfully hosted several academic forums, exhibitions and votes of calligraphy and painting. He’s also the editor and writers of several books and essays.
