“Zhou Gang Watercolor Painting Exhibition” sponsored by China Academy of Arts, and Propaganda Department of the CPC Hangzhou Municipal Party Committee, and presented by Art Museum of Beijing Fine Art Academy, Watercolor Painters Association of Zhejiang Province, Xiling Engravers Society Culture Art Development Co., Ltd. will be held at Art Museum of Beijing Fine Art Academy from March 26 to March 31, 2013.

         The watercolor works exhibited in Zhou Gang Watercolor Painting Exhibition (Beijing) include miners series which are full of humanistic care, and are deep, bitter, firm, and upward, trying to tell us the heart exchange of the artist with contemporary Chinese workers and humanistic feeling of the artist, and constituting a new perspective for Zhou Gang’s watercolor art to go beyond itself; urban girl series which represent cheerful happy life and are full of flavor of life, indicating his new thinking and seeking for the city where he lives and the problems of life; and human landscape series, which represent the scenery of great mountains and rivers, and are full of the spirit of art experiment, indicating his responsibilities as a humanistic artist.

         With his ancestral home in Shandong, Zhou Gang was born in Shaanxi in 1961 and now is the vice dean and a professor of Design Arts College, China Academy of Art, a member of Watercolor Art Committee of the Chinese Artists Association, and the President of Watercolor Painters Association of Zhejiang Province. In November 2012 and January 2013, “Zhou Gang Watercolor Painting Exhibition” exhibited in Chinese Cultural Center in Paris, France and Hangzhou West Lake Museum was a complete success. French Exhibition interpreted the understanding of the contemporary watercolorist on Chinese culture and art, and made a contribution to Sino-French cultural exchange and popularizing Chinese culture. Hangzhou Exhibition was the gift of the watercolor artist for the first anniversary of application for the list of world heritage by the West Lake through the show of the humanistic West Lake image in Zhou Gang’s eyes. Now, Zhou Gang Watercolor Art Itinerant Exhibition-Beijing Exhibition will be the continuation of the Paris Exhibition and Hangzhou exhibition.

         Confronting current historical background of such dramatic changes, the Beijing Exhibition and Seminar will comprehensively show and assort Zhou Gang’s exploration and creation in watercolor art in recent years, and will be an effective summary of Zhou Gang’s painting practice and artistic ideas in recent years, which will lay a solid foundation for future artistic creation by Zhou Gang.
