Lu Chen’s Free Hand Figure Paintings

        The exhibition “Lu Chen’s Free Hand Figure Paintings” will be held on 4th Sep. at Art Museum of Beijing Fine Art Academy on and will last to 16th Sep. The exhibition is hosted by China Artists Association, China Art Institution, CAFA, Beijing Artists Association and Beijing Fine Art Academy, the exhibition is co-organized by Artron Company. As the first solo-exhibition which will present Lu Chen’s free hand figure paintings in his late years, it will includ more then sixty paintings from1985 to 2003 about ancient figure theme and calligraphy, these paintings will explain Lu Chen’s creation state and his endeavor for figure paintings’ development.

 

         Lu Chen’s early paintings are famous by his basic skills, the painting is from real life and also his representative painting. Lu Chen didn’t give up his research and creation during his late years, he emphasized “free hand” and “construction” in his paintings.

 

          Drunkenness in Paintings

 

           In the exhibition, there are a lot of paintings like < Drunkenness>, etc. Drunkenness in paintings is Lu Chen’s art character in his late years, he hade wrote “I like drink, but because of sick I have to quit it. When friends get together, I can only drink a little, the feeling of drink can only find in painting”, as a result the artist depict literatus’ drink a lot in his paintings.

 

          Combine New and Ancient, explore Bi-Mo New Field

 

            Lu Chen’s figure paintings in his late years are based on traditional culture, artist centered with daily life, combine poem, calligraphy and paintings together, these paintings are full of modern aesthetic beauty , for example, the painting which painted in 1992 mixed ancient poem and modern figure. These paintings not only reflect urban people’s living state, but also pursuit Chinese painting’s Bi-Mo essence and ancient culture though this way. Make calligraphy into paintings is a large character of Lu Chen, try to find the new development in the background of new culture.

 

            In the self-portrait Lu Chen conveyed his un-satisfy of his art, he still try to find new art era though his painting, try new ideals, methods and themes into his explore.
