Research the Nature, Create the Truth--Lu Yanshao’s paintings from Songshizhai

         The exhibition “Research the Nature, Create the Truth-----Lu Yanshao’s paintings from Songshizhai” will be held in Art Museum of Beijing Fine Art Institution from 16th Apr. to 28th May 2013. The exhibition is hosted by China Artists Association, Beijing Artists Association, Beijing Fine Art Institution, Zhe Jiang Art Institution, Lu Yanshao Art Institution, more than one hundred Lu Yanshao’s Paintings will be included in the exhibition. Though the classifying of Lu Yanshao’s paintings, and researching of critical essays to make the exhibition excellent in both appreciate and academic aspect. The items in the exhibition span 1950s to 1980s, most items are hand-scroll and album in high quality. A lot of them are even not included in the which published in 2008, these valuable paintings will definitely become the highlight in 2013.

 

         Songshi Zhai is Song Wenzhi’s studio name, he even has a seal with the name of “Songshi Zhai” and also uses the name in his inscriptions, Lu Yanshao is Sone Wenzhi’s teacher and they have good relationship. Song collected a large member of Luyan Shao’s paintings; a lot of leaves and hand-scroll are representative art works from Lu Yanshao. Though the collection, we can see Lu Yanshao’s main art style and art quality, and also the collector’s wisdom. 

 

         During the 20th anniversary of Luyan Shao’s death, and in combine with Lu Yanshao’s son Mr.Luxiang and Song Wenzhi’s son Mr.Song Yulin and  Mr.Song Yuming to exhibit Lu Yanshao’s paintings to the public. A lot of these paintings are even the first time to meet the audience which with high art and academic value. They are valuable document for researching of the infuriation and communication between the two artists. Therefore, we regard Lu Yanshao exhibition as a very important issue in “Series Exhibitions of 20th Century Chinese Art Masters”, and make the exhibition as the best way to commemorate the art master and a comprehensive review of the two artists’ communications. We believe the exhibition will bring the north art circle and even the national art circle deeper understanding of Lu Yanshao’s art life , we suppose the exhibition will bring some inspiration for current art development.

 

         Lu Yanshao started his learning from , under Fen Chaoran’s teaching, Lu Yanshao learned from “Four Wangs” and gradually developed his own character. Though the early paintings like Lu Yanshao’s , and which painted during 1950s to 1960s, we can see that his painting developed in inheriting tradition, but his brush style is more free and various.

 

          In 1970s, Lu Yanshao made a revolutionary changing in his art career, he left large empty area in his painting, these empty area just like clouds between hills .We can see the changing in his painting .

 

          In 1980s, Lu Yanshao’s formed his clumsy style, and experienced a period of expression language changing and found a new way of expression, his painting’s structure and colors became more and more simple, especially his painting create more possibility for “Bimo” and make “Bimo” more personally.

 

          Lu Yanshao wrote a self-poem when he was eight years old:

          Suffered a lot but still adhere to spirit,

          Leave Bamboo-brush and ink-stone, I suppose the offspring will be better than me.

          From Lu Yanshao’s self-poem, we can see that he recognized his accomplishment, but he is not satisfied with it and give hope to the young generations.
