Exhibition introduction:

In 2007, “Qi Gong Ink Art Exhibition” which held by Beijing Fine Art Academy is the first thematic exhibition after the death of Qi Gong, the exhibition is also the first exhibition of “20th Century Chinese Artist Series Exhibition” launched by Beijing Fine Art Academy. This year if the ten anniversary of the death of Qi Gong, “Qi Gong Art Retrospective Exhibition” which co-organized by Beijing Fine Art Academy and Qi Gong’s family, students and other institutions cherishes the memory of Qi Gong, and also summarizes the achievements of him.

This exhibition will show more than 80 pieces of poems, calligraphies and painting of Qi Gong, works are provided by family of Qi Gong, art institute, domestic and foreign collectors, and display the art attitude, solid foundation of calligraphy and profound cultural attainments of Qi Gong comprehensively.

Highlights of the exhibition:

Chinese art pays attention to “poem, calligraphy, painting”, this exhibition will show the achievements of Qi Gong in the three aspects, and guide audiences to see the process of the success road of him.

Copy the copybook of calligraphy is the necessary way of learning calligraphy of Chinese. As a calligraphy master, the way of Qi Gong copy the calligraphy is rare to be seen. This exhibition will display the copy works of Qi Gong, including Copy of Tiao Xi Poem, Copy of Huang Zhou Han Shi Poem and other works, combined his personal style and many ancient art styles. We can know about the learning road of Qi Gong from these works, and it also provides a good reference——the necessary artistic cultivation and basic skill people should possess to become a generation of calligraphers the for many contemporary Chinese calligraphy learners at the same time.

The section of “Poems created by himself” in this exhibition reflects the characteristics of Qi Gong as a comprehensive scholar type artist. In his childhood, Qi Gong showed the talent in the field of poetry, combined with the guidance of the teacher and the hard work of himself, he united the inheriting of the tradition and innovation, created “Qi Gong Form” or “Yuan Bai Form” poem. Representative poems including Qin Yuan Chun, Write behind Bo Liang Tai and so on, these poems will meet audiences in the exhibition.

This exhibition also covers the painting works of Qi Gong in different periods, not only has the combination works of painting and calligraphy, but also has important early paintings of Qi Gong, such as Copy the Landscape Created by People in the Song Dynasty, Landscape and Flower Book, these are the special highlights of the exhibition.

In the aspect of exhibition space design, in order to show the elegant temperament and profound knowledge of Qi Gong's, and create a leisurely implication atmosphere, we modify the exhibition design scheme for many times, and choose bamboo curtain as the media, create a scene echoes with Qi Gong’s left treasures by the change of light and shadow. What’s more, in order to let audiences feel the experiences of copying calligraphy, we set a special district for people to write, and put the replicas of Qi Gong’s work in it, add the interaction of the exhibition.

Beijing Fine Art Academy publishes Qi Gong Calligraphy and Panting Collection. What wore worthy of recommendation is the showing of large story movie Qi Gong after the opening ceremony. Academic lectures will also be organized during the exhibition.
