        Li Keran’s Series Exhibition ----Calligraphy Section and the Opening Ceremony of

 

        The Li Keran’s Series Exhibition will be opened on 5th Dec. at Art Museum of Beijing Fine Art Academy, and will last to 3rd Jan.2013. The exhibition is hosted by the Calligraphy &Painting Workshop of the CPPCC, China Artists Association, Central Academy of Fine Arts, China National Academy of Painting, Beijing Artists Association, Beijing Fine Art Academy and Li Keran Art Foundation, and organized by Art Museum of Beijing Fine Art Academy. The exhibition is the calligraphy section of Li Keran’s series exhibition, during the exhibition audience will have the opportunity to see Li Keran’s calligraphy and paintings.

 

          Li Keran had written “Jin Tie Yan Yun” (which means iron and clouds) in his inscription of paintings. From this view, we can see the Li Keran’s high level requires of painting and calligraphy. As the result, “Jin Tie Yan Yun” can be the conclusion of Li Keran’s painting image, and explains Chinese painting and calligraphy’s relationship of Li Keran.

 

        Ⅰthe History

 

         Chinese calligraphy’s history is as long as Chinese character, and experienced different periods like Zhuan, Cao, Kai, and Xing, there are different calligraphy masters and well-known calligraphies. Li Keran likes painting since he was a child, he had written New Year Scrolls for his neighbors. He had copied Zhao Mufu’s calligraphy style when he entered his middle age. After he entered Hangzhou National Art Academy, he changed to western painting, but returned to traditional art during the anti-Japanese period, he created a lot of figure paintings and mountain-and-water paintings. Just as Sheng Peng said the best way of admiring Qi Baishi’s painting is checking his painting’s inscription.

 

         ⅡBrush and Ink

 

         After 70s, Li Keran stepped into a more mature period, he often wrote “Jin Tie Yan Yun” for his friends and students. Li Keran like the rubbing of stone inscription, especially likes the Bei We style, the displayed in the exhibition can give us a clue. The early inscription in his painting was inspired by Huang Daozhou and his painting.

 

        Ⅲ.Become Famous

 

        When entered 1980s, Li Keran’s calligraphy works also including Tang Dynasty Poetry, Sayings and he also had wrote names for publications and residence. As a disciple of Qi Baishi, he had wrote a lot for Qi’s publications:< Three Hundred Seal Carvings of Qi Baishi>, . For his homeland, he had wrote , . In these inscriptions, Li Keran’s personality is appearing gradually, when we entered middle and late 1980s period, he had wrote , etc. The explanation of the background of these art works are also a high light, close the distance of audience and art works.

 

        Though the research of Li Keran’s calligraphy, we will get a lot of inspiration and benefit the contemporary calligraphy circle.
