Profusion of Color--- Figure paintings from Xu Yansun will be held in Art Museum of Beijing Fine Art Academy from 23rd Jun. 2010 to 12th Jul.2010. As an important part of Series exhibitions of 20th century Chinese art masters, the exhibition is hosted by China Artists Association, Beijing Artists Association and Beijing Fine Art Academy, organized by Art Museum of Beijing Fine Art Academy. With the support of Chen Dongyang,Jin Yu, Zhang Jinghuai, and colleagues of Beijing Fine Art Academy the exhibition included about one hundred figure paintings of Xu Yansun and try to makes a overall reflect the artist’s art career process and art character.
As a preeminent artist in “Beijing style” figure painting in 20th century, Xu influenced the modern Chinese figure painting’s development and progress profoundly. Visit the cottage thrice in succession-- to request Kong Ming to take up a responsible post and Music are the represent paintings of color fine brushes, in which figures are described in precision and vividly. Xu’s achievement is in fine brush painting, however he also has his own character in line drawings, Unique in the exhibition for example is a good line drawing in free hand. The artist tries to convey the figure’s spirit with clean water-and-ink lines which are full of tension strength; the painting was praised by Zhou Zhaoxiang, Wu Jingting and Qi Gong.
To face the art creation today, the Beijing Fine Art Academy would like to explore the relationship between art creation and the inheriting of tradition though the exhibition and study. Xu had his own answer to this topic: the inspiration should come from our daily life but we can not ignore the national art pattern and techniques. Paintings in the exhibition are the best example of Xu Yansun’s practice of his artistic ideal.
