“The Comstance of National Style” – The 95th Birthday Anniversary Exhibition of Dong Xiwen’s sketch works within “The Series Exhibitions of 20th Century Chinese Fine Art Masters”, will open in the art museum of Beijing Fine Art Academy on 8th Sep 2009. Painting and Calligraphy Room under The National Committee of Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Chinese Artists’ Association, Chinese Central Academy of Fine Arts, Chinese Oil Painting Society, Beijing Artists’ Association and Beijing Fine Art Academy host this exhibition. This exhibition is separate into 3 sections: “sketches in the Long March”, “Trip to Tibet” and “Visit to Soviet Russia”, to present Dong Xiwen’s most representative sketch works and his sketch process through resources of active sketches panel and documentary video. In addition, publications of “the Comstance of National Style – Dong Xiwen’s Painting Album” and “The Collected Works of Dong Xiwen’s Research” will be released during the exhibition. Besides, in order to discuss the significant impact and meaning of Dong Xiwen’s method of “National Oil Painting Style” and the importance of sketch activities within artistic creations, Beijing Fine Art Academy will also hold an academic discussion forum, entitled “Dong Xiwen and National Oil Painting Style” on the opening day of exhibition.

         By the 95th Anniversary of Mr. Dong Xiwen’s birth, let us through his sketch works, entering his artistic world and to redivivus and recognize the real Dong Xiwen.
