         “New Changes and Transformations”- The Collected 20th Century Colaborate-style Painting Exhibition of Beijing Fine Art Academy

 

          The Colaborate-style Painting in the mid-20th century was experienced transforming progress, which from traditional to modern style. The academy-collected works from some representative painters has clearly marked the trace of this development progress. In 1930s and 40s, the development of colaborate-style painting was in conformance with the epoch needs; through their great effort of exploration, painters were trying to search new opportunities in order to compete with the mainstream ink and wash painting in time. Some inherited Five Dynasties and Song, Yuan Dynasties’colaborate-style painting tradition, Some inspired by Dunhuang’s Buddhist statues in Tang Dynasty, Some deliberated Lang Shining’s technique from Qing Dynasty, and some even travels to Japan and affected by Japanese paintings. These explorations and practices have taken shape the revival of colaborate-style painting. The considerable creations have been made within portrait, landscape and flower-and-bird field. A group of colaborate-style painting artists including Fu Xinyu, Xu Yansun, Yu Feian, Chen Shaomei, Liu Lingcang and Pan Jiezi etc. were gathered in Beijing and have offered significant contribution of carry forward the colaborate-style painting tradition. In 1950s and 60s, a new transformation has begun in colaborate-style painting: artists penetrate deeply into life and draw from nature; utilized painting techniques from New-Year pictures and serial pictures; and broke through the limits of painting categories. It has stood out from old hedges, showed new looks on draw materials, creativities, painting languages and aesthetic interests, which press close to reality and its time.
