         Mr. Qi Baishi took "unlikeness like" as "vivid flower spirit", apply "sad years changing rule" reform "red flowers with ink leaf", he draw the ancients didn’t draw and create the ancient did not invent, combine interests in common life with literary elegance which formed his own style. He not only expanded the traditional flower painting’s theme scope, and created a unique artistic style. He expressed the spirit of his time into the traditional theme and expended the conversion of the works of artistic conception taste. This group of Qi Baishi flower art is Chinese modern paintings of flower, has a great influence on modern painting history. "Flowers’ interpretation – Under Qi Baishi’s pen of his interest in flower" is "special collection from Beijing Fine Art Academy Qi Baishi series " sixth thematic exhibitions, the exhibition from two aspects of "theme development" and "meaning conversion" to show the aesthetic connotation of Qi Baishi’s flower painting.
 
         Flower, one of the most important subject in Chinese traditional painting, was given a special meaning auspicious and spiritual character, the formation of a moral culture widely known to the flower theme paintings, on one hand, it promotes the popularization in society, on the other hand, it form a bound, limited the subject in a narrow range. Qi Baishi, as a great master, he has a great relationship between art and life, too. That he firmly grasps the essence of artistic expression of life experience, he extended artistic theme material range outside traditional material, and broke through the limitation of culture idology, expanded the theme of flower painting. Qi Baishi stated in his paintings: "Most of the subjects he painted are not inspired by observing them", morning glory, Yan Laihong, sunflower, cockscomb these garden flowers, as long as it connects to his inner emotions, he will bring it into his painting. Works like "banana chick"’s lively banana, the vivid begonia flower in "autumn", he praised the origin of life vigor. 
 
         In order to successfully transform the flowers in his eyes to the flowers under his hand, Baishi experienced ten years of transformation, he carried out a bold innovation artistic forms of his own. Baishi’s artistic language is very different from traditional artist and he is also very different from the literati painters, he held on to the consideration of the audience aesthetic habits at the same time paint based on the fundamental art concept of his own, wrote to Qi Baishi in a postscript of painting: "painting in between similar and not similar is wonderful, too similar can be vulgar, not too similar can be cheat".

Qi Baishi’s painting express the flowers in his eye and hearts without any superficial mystery. Through those flowers he painted, we can see an old man’s passion of life. Behind those beautiful flowers we can imagine a peaceful and delicate family farm field or a lively garden with wild flowers and plants. 
 
         Qi Baishi’s flower is the art model of a national style and the spirit of the his era, is Chinese modern freehand flowers painting styles expansion, through those paintings, we can experience the new era spirit in an ancient civilization.
