I have traveled beautiful rivers and mountains throughout my motherland, in the process of realizing the ever-changing landscape while inspired by past sages’ masterwork, my heart of reverence arise spontaneously. Thereby, it has generated the passion and cerebration of my creation.

          Handscrolls, painting albums and sector are the special form of traditional Chinese painting, which artists in past dynasties has created many masterworks. I like to use this form to present traditional theme. For the past twenty years I have used this form to review and annotate the historical subjects continuously, in order to get myself slowly entering tradition, to express myself and return to tradition. Painting through these forms has made me feel close to past sages’ sentiment and affection, follow the tradition has helped me to find a destination inside my heart.

          I was grown up in the environment of criticize tradition, encourage revolution and creation. From thinking within excoriation, to study and inherit tradition, I have experienced complicated 心路历程. This might be the mission for our generation! Arts from past dynasties worldwide are all developing based on respect ancestors’ achievement, inherit endless generation by generation. In this multivariate society, our excoriation is more than inheritation, aimless more than cerebration, vainglory more than confident. Within the environment in doubt of our national culture, what kind of master can we produce? How will the later generation evaluate us?

          During the process of developing Chinese traditional painting, doing research of its artistic discipline is more important than technique, doing research of Chinese traditional painting’s spirit is more important than pursue trendiness, to adjust our own artistic mentality is more important than criticize others. Art needs development, artist needs personality, but it should base on respect ancestors and people who are in the same business, otherwise art cannot develop healthily. Memorize past has purified and sublimed my spirit; expresses emotion has present my artistic exploration and creation. This is my objective of this exhibition.
