Shi Xin Xie Yi – Xiong Weishu 100th Aniversary Landscape Painting Exhibition2014-09-11

To commemorate the 100th anniversary of Mr. Xiong Weishu, Jiangsu Province Literary Federation, Beijing Fine Art Academy, Nanjing Painting and Calligraphy Academy and People Art Press jointly host the “Shi Xin Yi Xie- Xiong Weishu 100 Anniversary Landscape Painting Exhibition”. The exhibition will be presented at Beijing Fine Art Academy during September 19th – 24th. This exhibition is curated by Mr. Lv Jurong and academically supported by Mr. Shao Daxian and Shang Hui. It will show Mr. Xiong’s work from 1950’s to 1990’s including more than seventy pieces: Gu Miao Song Shan Tu, Li Jiang Xiao Jing, Shao Lin Shi Yi, etc. The artworks basically illustrate Mr’s Xiong’s career and entire art creating style. From those works, the viewer can not only experience the grand landscape of the motherland and the mysterious nature, but also visualize Kuan Fan’s majesty, Li Tang’s gloom, Huang Gongwang’s richness, Wang Meng’s thickness and Huang Binghong’s intrinsic value. By viewing these art pieces, audiences can fully experience Mr. Xiong’s generosity in thoughts and liveliness in heart.

 

 

Mr. Xiong Weishu (1914-2002) born in a literary family at Hebei Shangcheng, his grandfather Xiong Bing is Empress Dowager Cixi mercy awarded scholar. During his childhood, he was influenced by both his grandfather and father in learning Chinese historic masterwork. Famous painters, Huang Boxiang and Xu Yansun became his painting master; famous poet Zhao Yuancheng became his poet master when Mr. Xiong steps into teen period. During Anti-Japanese War, Mr. Xiong, bearing his patriotic heart, became the secretary of National Government Military Committee. After Anti-Japanese war, Mr Xiong became Anhui provincial newspaper editor and worked at the National Museum of history Chinese. After the liberation, Mr. Xiong worked as deputy director of Reference Books Second Historical China Editing Department and was also a visiting professor in Naijing University Department of History. In 1970, during the Cultural Revolution, he was placed under the Jiangsu Gaoyou as a farmer; and after 1979 implementing the policy, he returned Naijing in 1989.

 

Even though Mr. Xiong is not a professional painter, his amplified experience in life and art helped him with his creation in landscape painting. In his poetry and calligraphy works, he expresses his understanding of the difficult life he experienced. In many years, he traveled the grand sights of China, which had impact on his personality. During his teenage period, he studied Chinese history, literature, philosophy, and art. In additional to his wisdom and good perception of learning, he became an outstanding student.

 

With strong ambition, Mr. Xiong Weishu always treats people and things with a peaceful heart, putting fame and wealth aside. Although he was not famous, he created pure cultural connotations and profound works of art, and sent out eternal luster of grace. His selfless spirit and noble character will always be admirable, worth promoted and memorized.
