Born in Xu Ping County, Zhejiang Province; in 1930, he studied in Beijing Achievements Middle School. Studied with Wang Shi to learn Chinese painting; in 1932 Beijing Jing Hua Academy of Fine Arts, studied with Xu Yan Sun learning traditional Chinese colorful portraits; in 1949, worked for arts workshops, Shanghai art factory, and joined the China National Art Association; in 1951, team leader, technology group, Beijing Historical Museum; transferred to work for Beijing Panting Academy in 1966; in 1979, president, Beijing Traditional Painting Association; in 1981, editor of < Chinese Painting >;I n 1987 became the president of Chinese Traditional Painting Association; in 1995, Pan Qi-zi Art Gallery completely established.
