Zhou Yuanliang(Late)

  Zhou Yuan-liang is Beijinger and his style name is Rongan. He had been loving painting since his childhood. In 1922, he began to study landscapes painting and impressionistic flowers. He was the student of Chen Shizeng, Tang Dingzhi, Jin Shaocheng, Xiao Qianzhong. In 1925, he joined Beijing Chinese Painting Research Association, and in 1929, he became the assistant researcher. In 1935, he taught landscape painting in The North China College of Fine Arts, but then resigned and concentrated on painting. After the founding of PRC, he joined in creative activities for the workers, and experienced life in the site and rural areas. In 1955, he joined Chinese Arts Association and entered into Beijing Fine Art Academy in 1957.     In 1959, he created the scroll, "The Spring of Capital " with Gu Yizhou, Tao Yiqing, Hui Xiao Tong, He Jinghan and won praise. In his old age, he still insisted on painting inspite of his difficulties on movement.     Zhou Yuanliang had profound artistic skills, started with the "Four Wangs" landscape and then traced figures of Song, Yuan, Ming Dynesty, he concentrated on ancient traditions and formed his own art style.
