Ma Jin(Late)

Original name: Xi Lin; nickname: Bo Yi; another nickname: Zhan Ru Buddhist or Cloud and Lake; hometown: Da Xing county of Beijing. He Loved painting horses when he was young. Was instructed by Qing Dynasty court painter Zhao Shu-cun, based on Lang Shi-ning works, taught himself Lang's painting; then apprenticed to Jin Cheng, joined the Chinese Painting Research Society, he served as assistant professor, evaluator and later as Lake Club, became a professional painter; in 1951, joined Beijing Chinese Painting Research Association, as managing director; in 1956, director of the Beijing Chinese Painting Society; in 1958 Beijing Art Gallery Artist & Member of the Chinese Artists Association. He was Former Beijing Dongcheng District People's Congress; Commissary of CPPCC(Standing Committee member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference)of Dongcheng District. Ma Jin, in Beijing painting circle, had made integration of traditional Chinese and Western painting. Ma Jin's traditional Chinese realist works had a sense of texture & colorful normal but not formal, cautious but not punctilious, clean and beautiful, widely popular. His little free-style works, short but vivid, ink and wash painting style can also be found. In addition, his kite-making also achieved very high attainments.
