Zhou Huaimin(Late)

His hometown is Jiangsu Wuxi and he studied civil engineering in his early years. In 1926, he began to learning landscape painting in Beijing Chinese Painting Research Association, and then served as lecturer and reviewer at the Association. In 1930s, he was appointed landscape painting professor at Jinghua Arts College and Peking Art College. He used to be monitor of the Chinese Kuomintang Revolutionary Committee of the and editor of the Zhongshan Arts Association.     Zhou Huaimin was good at landscapes painting, had profound traditional skill, especially familiar with the techniques of the Northern Song and Yuan Dynasties. In the 1950s,he travelled a lot and had a change on painting. His representative works include "the Ming Tombs Reservoir," "Daizong Rising Sun Map" (cooperation) and so on. His paintings were vigorous, simple and beautiful, unique in the field of Chinese painting. He was good at painting Lu Tang scene of Tai Hu Lake, known as "Zhou Lutang". He was also reputed for"Zhou Grape" for his painted purple grapes. Zhou Huaimin was proficient in appreciation and collection. In his later years, he donated collections to hometown. Wuxi City specially constructed Zhou Huaimin Painting Museum for him.
